Today will be a quick one, though I've noticed when I type that, it is a sure sign that the result will be quite the opposite. I'd like to make a short post today because I've got a buttload to do tonight. Finish reading a novel (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close), a textbook (Videogames by James Newman) and some assignments (a project for my creative writing class involving "collections" to be employed in a fiction. The last one is a pretty exciting one I think. I think I'll be doing records or songs (as it is the digital age, and doing an exclusively vinyl collection would probably be a little too cliche).

Well, the whole reason I have to cram all this work into one day is because of a workshop I signed up for on Sunday to learn a bit about Theater lighting. Sounds fun but the crap thing is probably having to wake at 8am on a Sunday. Ugh.

I really need to get my nose to the grindstone in a bit because I've already frittered a few hours away cooking. Probably unconsciously trying to avoid getting down to work. Made a big pot of soup/stew in Korean/Chinese manner, dumping a bunch of ingredients, Seafood/Rice cake (not really cake)/Tofu/Bok Choy into chicken broth and a heaping spoonful of a sauce paste that looks disgusting but tastes fabulous (isn't that always the case w/ Chinese food?). I also made some Red Rice and Beans and Kielbasa sausage for the soul food cravings I predict I'll be having in a few days. Talk about totally different foods....

Lyrics that made my ears perk up: From Richard Swift's The Novelist - "Tired and weak, I try to write a book each time I speak"

ok, forcing myself to stop now. Still don't want to share Laurie yet. I actually have written the post already but its sitting in wait on my desktop.

Recommended Tunes For Today:

+ Rose Batiste - I Miss My Baby
Found an awesome Northern Soul station on the internet tomorrow. Call me an idiot but I never knew there was such a thing as Northern Soul and I didn't know it pertained to England!! Another reason why brits are pretty damn cool.

+ Rodd Keith - Ecstacy to Frenzy
(I. Don't. Even. Know. Where. To. Begin. Just google him. A total trip)

+ Nina Simone - Got It Bad And That Ain't Good
(Literally had to close my eyes for a sec when the song came up on my iPod while I was walking on campus. Almost ran into a lightpole but I just had to)

+ The Reindeer Section - If Everything Fell Quiet
(The side project everyone forgets. Unfortunately)

+ Ricky Nelson - Young World
(Vastly underrated and often overshadowed by his teen idol years. He was darn good teen idol material but he had some good music sensibilities as well)

+ Brendan Benson - Get It Together
(The guy is so pop good that I simultaneously want him to famous and kept secret forever)
